The Tango is a ballroom dance that has a varied amount of steps and poses. It is also known as the dance of love. There's a lot of emotion that goes into the dance, though you don't always see it on the dancers' faces. Most of the emotion is through the steps that are being presented along with the facial expressions.
The general colors that go with Tango are black and red. Personally it bugs me whenever a different color is used (like black and yellow or I've even seen black and green). It just doesn't feel like it goes with the dance; it's like it takes away the meaning of the dance.
Here are some of the dance positions that are commonly seen in the Tango.

Well, let me just say, your content is golden. I have always had a fascination with dance, so your blog to me is like learners heaven! It was fun to read about all the different types of ballroom dances. Do you know how to dance all these styles really well? Do you ever enter dance competitions? If you do have you ever just kick serious ass at them? This is so interesting! The tango is really beautiful to watch, can you recommend any where to take a dance lesson from?
ReplyDeleteI know how to dance them well enough. The school I went to who had the ELEMENT team didn't have enough money to go to competition by the time I was on it, which really sucked because some of my dance partners would have been freaking amazing in competition if we had been allowed to go.
ReplyDeleteI would recommend going to the Boise Square Dance Center's website and see what events they have coming up. At that center, they have classes and major events like Mad Hot For Ballroom and USA Dance. They're so much fun! XD I think the classes are a little pricey but if it's something you really want to do for most, or some, of your life it's going to be worth the money. =)
Oh that is no fun! I bet going to a competition would have been an amazing experience! Do you have any video's or anything of you dancing so we could see you in action?
ReplyDeleteI will have to look into it! Dancing looks and sounds like a blast and I need something to get me out of the house haha. Oh I am sure you get what you pay for with the classes. When did you first start ballroom dance lessons?
I have some videos on other blogs...I think under the ones where I'm talking mainly about ELEMENT Ballroom Dance Team is where they'd be. =) I was really disappointed about not going to any competitions but I still enjoyed all of the performances we did. =)
ReplyDeleteI was a freshman in high school when I first started taking lessons. My coach had a class at the high school that she taught and I took it because a friend of mine who was on the team the previous year told me to take it because she though I'd enjoy it. I didn't believe her at first but now I love it! I was on the team my sophomore year until my senior year of high school. The experiences were amazing, though there were times I wanted to punch a wall because of how people were acting :P.
